Gas Insulated Substation Model for Adani Electricity Management Institute
Electrical infrastructure includes systems that are not always easy to explain with technical drawings or photographs. A physical scale model brings that infrastructure into a view that visitors can examine closely.
At Maadhu Creatives, we take on projects that bring difficult engineering ideas to life. One such project is the Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) model we created for the Adani Electricity Management Institute (AEMI). The model was made for display in the AEMI Simulation Lab.
With dimensions of 2 ft 6 in × 2 ft × 1 ft 6 in, the model was planned around the client's display requirements. It also became a memorable achievement for our team when Shri Kandarp Patel, CEO & MD of AEML, visited and appreciated our work during the Simulation Lab inauguration.
This project reflects our ability to make engineering models, and our commitment to understanding why each model exists.

Bringing the Client's Vision to the Simulation Lab
Every project begins with a need. For this project, the client wanted a GIS model that visitors could see inside the Simulation Lab.
The environment was very important when planning the project. A model made for display has to fit the space where it is placed and communicate its subject through its appearance.
Our team worked with the size and purpose of the display in mind. The outcome was an engineering model created specifically for the AEMI Simulation Lab.
Unlike a conventional photograph, a three-dimensional display lets visitors view the subject from different angles. It provides a common visual reference for people with different levels of technical knowledge.
This is what makes the AEMI Simulation Lab model a meaningful addition to our project portfolio. It represents a client's requirement translated into a physical engineering display.
Understanding the Technology Behind a GIS Substation
A Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) is an electrical installation in which the important components of the substation are enclosed within grounded metal housings. An insulating gas provides the protection that compact equipment needs, and it is an integral part of the design.
Inside these enclosures are components such as circuit breakers, disconnectors and busbars, which stay protected within the insulating gas enclosure. Compared with air-insulated substations, GIS installations need less space, which makes them useful in areas and facilities where land is limited.
The term "gas model" can describe many different types of technical models. In this project, however, the subject is specifically gas-insulated electrical substation technology.
A Gas Insulated Switchgear model, or GIS engineering model, provides a physical representation of this specialised infrastructure. It gives visitors an introduction to the subject without requiring them to interpret detailed electrical engineering drawings.
For institutions and technical facilities, this type of display can complement learning and presentation materials.
A Memorable Moment at the AEMI Simulation Lab Inauguration
One of the highlights of this assignment was the appreciation received during the Simulation Lab inauguration at Adani Electricity Management Institute.
Shri Kandarp Patel, CEO & MD of AEML, visited the event and took time to appreciate our model during the inauguration.
For Maadhu Creatives, having our work showcased on such an occasion was truly a moment of pride. It was encouraging to see the finished project become part of a professional environment associated with electrical infrastructure and technical learning.
We consider this project an important achievement because it brought together a specialised engineering subject, a clearly defined client requirement, and a dedicated institutional display. It is also a valuable example of the different applications of our engineering model-making capabilities.
The Thinking Behind a Custom Engineering Model
The size of a model is not the measure of its success. A model is successful when it depicts its subject accurately and achieves the aims set by the client.
Before the manufacturing process begins, professional model makers analyse several factors that go beyond production itself:
Technical Data
Project images, illustrations, and drawings are used to decide the model type.
Scale and Size
The size of the model is determined by the subject and the location where it will be exhibited.
Materials and Production
Materials and production technology are chosen mainly according to the finishing requirements of the model.
Presentation Requirements
The overall design depends on the target audience and the display environment.
Our aim is to combine traditional model-making skills with modern production methods, including 3D printing where required. This lets us work on projects ranging from small electrical models to large industrial and infrastructure presentations.
The planning principle is the same whether we create an electrical engineering model, a custom industrial display, or a 3D engineering model.
Engineering Models for Different Industries and Applications
Our expertise goes beyond substations to a wide range of projects. Different industries need models for different reasons, and each application has its own factors that must be considered during the design process.
Our model-making capabilities include:
Electrical Energy Infrastructure
Substations, switchyards, and other electricity-related installations.
Industrial Equipment
Physical depiction of machinery, factories, equipment layouts, and operations in industrial buildings, covered by our industrial scale models.
Technical and Institutional Exhibits
Models for laboratories, educational institutions, visitor centres, and companies.
Engineering Exhibitions
Models designed for engineering events, exhibitions, and project launches that demonstrate a concept physically.
Customised Engineering Projects
Models developed to the customer's requests, reference sketches, sizes, and purposes.
These applications show the versatility of engineering scale model making. From an electrical equipment model to a large infrastructure display, the right approach depends on the subject and on what the client wants to communicate.
Maadhu Creatives: A Scale Model Making Company for Specialised Projects
At Maadhu Creatives Productions LLP, we develop scale models, industrial models, electrical models, and engineering models for a wide range of applications.
Our work involves understanding the client's requirements and selecting the right approach for each project. We work with reference material and project specifications to develop representations that suit their intended purpose.
Our capabilities include GIS scale models, electrical infrastructure models, industrial scale models, and custom engineering displays. We also develop physical models using suitable fabrication and 3D printing techniques.
As a scale model making company, we believe the quality of a project begins with planning. Understanding the subject, its dimensions, and its display requirements helps us deliver a model that serves the client's needs. The Adani Electricity Management Institute project is one example of this approach in practice.
